| I got the chance to live and work in Seoul, South Korea for a year in 2006-2007. Korea is a beautiful country, there are definite must-see things if you get the chance to travel there. The DMZ is a very surreal place, but you really have to take a tour there to get an idea of the strange state of relations between North and South Korea. Climbing Mt. Sorak is an incredible experience and the countryside is beautiful. You can go whitewater rafting, SCUBA diving and snowboarding. Hiking is a national past time and even in a huge city you will find mountain parks that are busy on weekends. I walked through the Namdaemun gate, a 600 year old national treasure that was burned down by an arsonist in early 2008. Buddha's birthday is celebrated each spring with the Lotus Lantern festival, the most colorful parade of costumes and lanterns you've ever seen. |
